Ipswich Town progressed to the second round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win against Bracknell Town.

At times it was far from comfortable for the Blues with their hosts making it difficult for them to find a way through, but the deadlock was broken in the 66th minute thanks to an own goal from Dan Bayliss.

Town added two more to their tally before the night was over, with Freddie Ladapo and Panutche Camara both finding the back of the net.

The win means Ipswich will host National League North side Buxton in the second round of the competition.

It took us a little while to get into our rhythm, first 20 minutes or so, said Town manager Kieran McKenna following the win.

Full credit to Bracknell for how they came out, they were aggressive and well-organised and they obviously ran their socks off as well.

Obviously until you get that first goal the games a little on edge, so we knew we had to be patient and keep playing, and the opportunities would come. If we didnt score early then we had to make sure we didnt concede late in the game. But once we got the first goal we were fine and we knew more goals would come.

McKenna hinted at the need to respect their opponents in his pre-match press conference and the Town boss fielded a strong line-up, with the likes of Freddie Ladapo, Dominic Ball, Kayden Jackson and Kyle Edwards all featuring from the off.

There were few chances to separate either side in the opening 45 minutes. While the visitors dominated the ball, Bracknell held their own and looked to counter-attack when the opportunity arose.

The breakthrough did eventually come when Bayliss scrambled the ball into the back of his net, before two tap-ins for Town sealed the win.

However, McKenna was full of praise for the hosts on what was a special night for them.

He said: Its job done from our point of view, but really it is Bracknells night. Credit to them, theres a great energy in the stadium, a great atmosphere and its a big night for them. Credit to the players and the staff for the way they were set up tonight. It was their night and were glad we managed to come through.

It was a challenge. Its hard to enjoy it until you get the first goal, as you know at 0-0 you are always on the edge of disaster. The responsibility is on us to win the game. Until you get that first goal it is hard to really enjoy it.

When asked about facing Buxton in the next round, McKenna added: Its a good draw. Nice to have the home game.

Its another game where we are going to be big favourites and have the challenge of having to live up to that, but thats where we want to be. Its a good chance to get through to the third round, there is no doubt about it.
