As Luis Surez looks to be leaving La Liga for pastures new with his contract at Atletico Madrid expiring at the end of the season, another prolific Uruguayan forward is just about to get started.

Nineteen-year-old Matas Arezo, who has been likened toSurezin the past, completed a transfer to Granada on deadline day after scoring an impressive 37 goals and registering 14 assists for his club side River Plate Montevideo in 97 appearances.

An explosive forward, with excellent quick feet in one vs one situations and an innate knack for scoring goals, its hard not to see the comparisons with Surez in Arezo.

The Granada forward is definitely regarded as the next in line to succeed Uruguays rich history of forwards, and the heir to Surezs and Cavanis throne in the senior national team.

Last season, Arezo scored 16 goals and registered five assists in 29 appearances, averaging 0.72 goal contributions per 90 minutes in the Uruguayan top flight.

His new spell in La Liga will be the next step in his metamorphosis as a player, and it will giveLiverpoolan opportunity to take a closer look at his ability and better gauge his potential.

Wewroteabout Arezo in the summer as a potential target for the club, and he is definitely a player who has a style that is well-suited to Liverpools current system.

Arezos explosive nature and voracious appetite for the ball, are the hallmarks of a typical Liverpool attacker, and his knack for finding space inside the box are reminiscent ofDiogo Jotasince he arrived atAnfield.

The 19-year-old has already made his debut for Granada since arriving at the club, and showed plenty of zeal in a lively 10-minute cameo against Real Madrid constantly pressurising the opposition. and exhibiting a few clever touches in the oppositions final third.

But theres plenty more to come, and his development will be an exciting one to follow in the coming months ahead.

Liverpools squad, particularly in attack, could do with a bit of rejuvenation. For now, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino will suffice as the clubs best two options, but in a couple of years,Jrgen Kloppwill have to ponder on a replacement for the latter.

By that time, Arezo might be primed and ready after a couple of strong seasons in La Liga, and Liverpool could be tempted to repeat history by signing yet another exciting Uruguayan forward.

The omens are good based on the history of his predecessor; now its just up to Arezo to catch the clubs eye.
